ScholarshipsPhD Scholarships in X-ray astronomyApplications are invited for candidates to undertake postgraduate studies in X-ray astronomy, leading to a PhD within the School of Physics at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Two top-up scholarships will be awarded in 2009, for work on the following projects:
These scholarships are available to citizens and permanent residents of Australia and New Zealand, as well as international students. The scholarships are awarded as a top up for applicants who have successfully obtained one of the following awards:
Although the main selection rounds for the above awards closed in October, the Faculty of Science Dean's Postgraduate Research Scholarships are available for candidates beginning at other times Other arrangements may be possible for sufficiently motivated and experienced candidates. Each scholarship provides a yearly non-taxable top up which takes the successful applicant's annual stipend to $A28,000. Outstanding students who have completed, or expect to complete, a four year undergraduate degree at H1 level are encouraged to apply.

L. William Scholarships to undertake honours studies within the School of Physics at Monash University. The Scholarship is available to Australian citizens and permanent residents; it provides a non-taxable stipend of $5,000 for one year. An important feature of the Honours year is the research project, which is devoted to exploring in depth some contemporary topic in experimental or theoretical physics.
